If you need extra help while driving an RV, this post is for you!
This post reviews the benefits and features of using the Garmin RV GPS 760 LMT
Garmin GPS is specific for RV’s and helps make a more pleasant RV driving experience.
In 2016, we bought a 38′ Class A motorhome. This vehicle was much larger than the other family cars where I had a Garmin GPS. We were about to take it on a long trip and was looking for a GPS with a large display (getting older and can’t see very well) and had the ability to find roads with proper height and size clearance for our RV. I have had issues in the past with my GPS sending me down a small country road and couldn’t risk that with our RV.
First, this unit has a large, bright 7-inch display
It is easy to read and fit nicely on the dash of our motorhome. You almost need an oversized screen since the unit sits further from the driver than when it is in a car. I used a bean bag mount from an older Garmin GPS and placed it on the dash. The RV GPS 760 LMT is quite large and relatively heavy, so I’m not sure how stable it will be with the suction cup mount.

Garmin User Interface
Upon powering it up, I noticed the familiar Garmin user interface. The unit comes with maps of the US and Canada, but the best part is the way you can customize it. Just enter your vehicles height, weight, length, and width, and you will be routed on roads compatible with your rig. Wow! What a relief to know I won’t get into a bad situation where I can’t turn around or get under a low overpass. I am a relatively new RV owner and don’t need any added stress while driving.
Active Lane Guidance feature
The Active Lane Guidance feature uses brightly colored arrows and voice commands to help me move to the correct lane before reaching an intersection, so I’m not trying to change lanes at the last minute. Just another way to help you enjoy your RV driving experience.
Like most GPS systems, the RV GPS 760 LMT will display your driving map, current speed, speed limit and arrival time. You can also see the name of the road you are on. Traffic Services is also a great feature so you can avoid traffic jams and find detours to keep you moving. You can use voice-activated navigation in addition to the touchscreen interface. This allows you to keep your hands on the wheel.
Other features include:
- America’s RV Parks & Services Directory – Your GPS will have a directory of RV parks and campgrounds at your fingertips. I wish the list were more comprehensive, but it at least gives you a start. The list also includes service locations like towing, truck stops, and tire and service centers.
- Bluetooth – Sync a compatible Bluetooth smartphone for hands-free calling through the integrated microphone and speaker.
- Smartphone Link – a free mobile app that connects your RV 760LMT with your smartphone. When paired, your can use your phone’s existing data plan to share information. Smartphone Link also gives you access to Garmin Live Services for real-time information such as weather and traffic conditions.
