Thank you for stopping by and checking out delicious Kona Cafe Restaurant.

If you are planning a trip Disney World, you have to read this review on Kona Cafe and check out all my Disney World reviews.

Disney’s Kona Cafe is located at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.  The Kona Cafe serves incredibly delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The Banana Chocolate Crème Brûlée rocks!

We ate at Disney’s Kona Cafe on two separate trips to Disney World once for breakfast and once for lunch.  Why did we eat at the Kona Cafe?  To be honest, Kona is in the same hotel and on the same floor as one of our favorite Disney restaurants, Ohana.  Both times we ate at Kona it was because we did not make our reservations early enough, six months out, to be able to eat at Ohana.  We did make reservations early enough to eat at Kona.

The first time we ate at Kona we had breakfast.  It was one of the best breakfast’s I have ever had.  The Tonga Toast with the Strawberry Compote and the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes was fantastic.  We all enjoyed everything we ordered for breakfast.  This past December, we were not entirely disappointed we did not get to eat at Ohana.  We booked a reservation again at Kona and enjoyed an incredibly delicious lunch.

Kona Cafe Desserts:

Let’s start this review with desserts.  My family loves Creme Brule, and this Banana Foster Creme Brule did not disappoint us.  It was creamy with that hard top that everyone fights over who is going to break it.  It was delicious and beautiful.  We also enjoy the Ice Cream Sundae with the M & M’s and chocolate Mickey.   Next time, I might try the Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Chocolate Fondue, or maybe the Chocolate Torte.

Disney Dining Tip:

  1. Six months out we tried to get reservations at Ohana, which is recommended. We did not get to eat there.  They fill up fast!  Book your Disney Dining Reservations exactly six months out from the day you want reservations.  All Disney restaurants may not book up this fast, especially during certain times of the year, but our experience with going to Disney the week after Christmas or anytime during the summer books up extremely fast.  Character meals fill up incredibly fast.
  2. If you do not get a reservation at the restaurant you wanted, try getting to the restaurant before they open and before anyone else gets there.  I have heard you may have a chance to get in.

Kona Cafe Breakfast Menu includes:

Tonga Toast – The Tonga Toast is amazing and not to be missed.  I could eat the Strawberry compote on everything.

Banana-stuffed Sourdough French Toast rolled in Cinnamon Sugar and served with a Strawberry Compote and your choice of Ham, Bacon, or Sausage.   These pictures truly do not do this French Toast justice.

Steak and Eggs

A Char-grilled New York Strip Steak served with Two Eggs, Home-fried Potatoes, and a Biscuit.  How can you go wrong with Steak and Eggs?  The steak was cooked perfectly.  My teenage son loves this treat.

Kona Cafe Lunch Items:

Kona Turkey Sandwich

Turkey Breast Roasted daily and served on House-made Bread with Caramelized Onion, Purple Haze-Hoisin Mayonnaise, Arugula, Tomato, and Bacon served with Asian Pear Slaw.  The fresh bread made this sandwich.  Disney knows how to kick up a plain turkey sandwich.

Pan-Asian Noodles with Shrimp

Yakisoba Noodles, Wok-seared with Vegetables in a Ginger-Garlic Sauce.  Ohana Restaurant serves similar noodles which my family loves.  We were not disappointed with Kona version of these noodles.  Delicious!

  1. I actually did get a restoration for Ohana when we go to Disney as per a suggestion from Kevin’s uncle and cousin, who have been there and was hopeful from them and all I had heard that we would love it. So, after reading your article, I am at least happy to hear you say you do love it, too. Will totally have to take a look at the Kona Cafe though, too since it is right next door in the same hotel. Thanks Diane for sharing this today and definitely made me feel better about our choice 😉
