George W. Bush Presidential Library Is It Worth A Visit?

It is located on the SMU, Southern Methodist University, campus.  This Presidential Library opened May 2013.  No matter how you feel about Republicans or Democrats, you learn so much history while visiting a Presidential Library.  Most people never get the opportunity to visit a presidential library.

William J. Clinton Presidential Library

I have had a chance to visit them William J. Clinton Presidential Library several times since we live near Little Rock, so this library is my second.  I would love to be able to visit all the Presidential Libraries in my lifetime.  Presidential Libraries are a great place to learn all about the history of the period.  I also enjoyed learning about the many circumstances that influence a president’s decisions.

As a woman, I enjoy seeing all the first ladies’ accomplishments while in the White House.  I also enjoy seeing the replicas and pictures of inside the different White House rooms including the Oval Office, the beautiful formal dresses, the China, and all the gifts are given to the president while he is in office.

We enjoyed the Bush Library.  I hear it is the only library where you can sit at the Desk in the Oval Office.  See below our family picture in the Oval Office.  When I visited the William J. Clinton Presidential Library, the Oval Office is roped off, and you are not allowed to it.

Because I lived in the New Orleans area during Hurricane Katrina, I totally enjoyed seeing all the Katrina exhibits at President Bush’s Library since this occurred during his term.  I also was overwhelmed with the 9/11 exhibit.  In the middle of the room stood a HUGE PIECE OF THE TWIN TOWERS.  All around the walls of the 9/11 show were the names of every person who died during the tragedy.  It was a genuinely touching memorial.

On the lighter side, we were able to hear and see clips of a personality of George Bush that I did not know existed.  President Bush’s daughters Barbara and Jenna showed their dad’s funny side.  They said he always makes them laugh by doing crazy stuff.  We enjoyed the short movie they put together.

  1. And he was part owner of the Rangers at one time.

I think it is too cool that you got to go there. I want to visit it. I think it is important that we visit places like this.

  2. That is a lovely way to interact with history. I would be great for your children to learn in a more practical way so that they remember. I like those red dresses too. This is very interesting for our readers at #HomeMattersParty
    Thanks, Kathleen
