Last year they played JOSEPH.  I tell people if they can only see one show see a play at the Sight & Sound.   This year they will be playing JONAH.

UPDATE ON Sight & Sound Theater

In March 2016, I saw the play, Moses.  When I cannot imagine how Sight & Sound could do a better play each year, they did it.  Again! If you can only see one show while in Branson, go to Sight & Sound Theater.  I loved Sight & Sound and did not get paid to let you know.

Branson Traffic tip:

Branson’s Colored Traffic Routes: Traffic in Branson: Branson has a population of 6,500 but averages 7,000,000 visitors every year. 76 Country Boulevard (the Strip) can get very crowded, especially in the evenings and on holiday weekends.  You want to make sure you pick up a Branson Traffic Map and study the different routes to avoid the congestion on 76.  The map has a red, Blue and Green Route to help you get around.  The color coded routes include the Red Route, the Blue Route, and a Yellow Route. These side roads get you out of traffic.

  1. I know I told you I have never been to Branson, but if I ever to do get to go, I will definitely refer back to you article here and know the person to go to for all the inside info. Thanks Diane and have a wonderful Wednesday 🙂

  2. My family will be visiting Branson, specifically Table Rock Lake, in June for the first time. I have two boys under the age of three. I hope to have some itinerary together, but I don’t really know what we should do. What do you suggest?

    • Jana,

I truly love Branson. We are going this weekend. I tell people if they can only see or do one thing to see the play at Sight & Sound theater. It is AMAZING! They have a new one this year called JONAH. It is the story of Jonah from the bible brought to life. Most young kids know this story and it will hold their attention. I cannot stress to you how amazing it really it. The stage and costumes are wonderful. The building itself is millions of dollars.

I would also take them to Ride the Ducks. It is a car/boat ride which tours Branson and goes into the lake too. It is lots of fun. I would do this first because they point out things to do in Branson.

I would also do Dixie Stampede. It is a dinner horse show. LOTS OF FUN!
If you need more ideas, I am adding a link to my blog where you can find Branson restaurants and more. http://recipesforourdailybread.com/category/branson-2/

Be sure to go to Silver Dollar City. They have a kiddie section with rides. They also have shows and great food.

We truly love Branson. I hope you have a wonderful time.

  3. I’ve been to Branson once, a long time ago and I remember what a fun place it was to take the kids. I would love to go back again, especially after seeing all the great ideas you have posted!
    Blessings,
    Shari

    • Shari,

I was just telling Jenny that Branson is so family friendly and everything they do honors the military and God. It is hard to explain, but examples would be the shows. Most shows will play patriotic songs and have the veterans stand. Silver Dollar City asks the veteran each morning to raise the flag and lead the Pledge. They have a theater there called Sight & Sound theater where they bring stories from the Bible alive. This year they are acting out he story of Jonah. It is Unbelievable. It will hold everyone’s attention the entire time. Branson is just a great place to visit. I blog about it a lot. If you ever decide to vacation there, let me help you find a place to stay and things to do.
      Blessings,
      Diane Roark

  4. Thanks for the info. Never been there but I’ve been past it. Maybe some day we will plan a vacation there!

  7. Lee Ann says:

We stopped in Branson in June on our way to Texas and the main thing I wanted to do was go to The Sight and Sound Theater. I recommend it to everyone. It is an experience I will never forget. They are preforming Moses and it was the most awesome show I have every seen. We sat on the first and second seat of the row so you can imagine the thrill of the animals and actors coming right past us. I bought the entire series since I do not know if I will make it back to Branson again. If you ever get the chance Go!

    • Lee Ann,

I am so glad you were able to experience Sight & Sound Theater. It is by far the best show in Branson and so hard for me to express how Awesome their shows are. You simply cannot compare it to any other show. I tell people all the time if they can only see one show in Branson GO TO SIGHT & SOUND. Branson is full of great shows but Sight & Sound is extra special. Again, I am so thrilled you saw it.

    Hi Diane-

We are planning a trip to Springfield, Mo. next weekend to tour a college. We’ll have 1 day to visit Silver Dollar City in Branson. Any tips for our family of 5?

    Thanks! 🙂

    • Elizabeth,

Thank you for visiting Our American Travels. My family and I love Branson. We live 3 hours south of Branson near Little Rock, AR and visit Branson often. This October we are planning to visit again for a week. I just love Silver Dollar City Harvest Festival. It looks like this reply maybe a little late to answer your question but I always tell people if they can only do one thing in Branson they have to see Sight & Sound Theater. Moses is playing this year and it is incredible. No words can describe how great this play is.
There are also looks of FREE things to do in Branson. One of our favorites is to visit the fish hatchery. The other one is to watch the fire & water show at the landing every night.
I hope you enjoy Branson. Please sign up for my emails. I will be writing a lot of new posts on Branson soon.
      Blessings,
