The inside of the restaurant is built like a town with chicken all over the roofs of the stores.  This restaurant reminded me of one of my favorite restaurants in Branson, MO because the wait staff sing with a microphone while walking around the restaurant.  The wait staff at Babe’s engage the audience even more while leading songs for everyone to join in.  A lot of people actually get up and follow along to YMCA, the Hokey Pokey and more.

You choose your meat item from fried chicken, fried chicken strips, fried catfish, chicken fried steak, or smoked chicken. You do not choose the vegetables. They just bring them to the table. The vegetables and buttermilk biscuits are FANTASTIC! They are also all you can eat! All the food is served family style in large bowls to pass around the table. I love restaurants that serve food family style. My blog is all about spending more time with your family around the table. To me, there is no better way to do this than putting all the food on the table and passing it around. No one needs to get up and go to any buffet. Family style is more relaxed and allowed us to communicate better. Although my only negative to Babe’s was it is a little loud in the restaurant, BUT it is a party atmosphere and everyone has a great time. I even saw an elderly lady throwing her hands up and doing the YMCA. I loved watching her. She was having a great time.

While eating we watched Babe’s celebrate two guest birthdays. The guest had to wear a chicken on their head and bite a plastic cup so it would cover their nose. The cup represented a chicken’s beak. The guest did a chicken dance while everyone in the restaurant sang the Happy Birthday song. It was hilarious!!

Back to the chicken, you know I love fried chicken. If fried chicken is on the menu, I am ordering it. I compare fried chicken to two of my favorite places that serve it. These places include AQ Chicken House in Arkansas and LAMBERT’s in Foley, Alabama and Ozark, Missouri. The chicken at AQ is pan-fried in a cast iron skillet and has a lemon seasoning that is fantastic. The chicken at Lambert’s is crunchy and extremely juicy. The chicken at Babe’s in Dallas was extremely good as well. It had some of the best crust I have ever had. After biting into a piece of Babe’s fried chicken, you will remember the crunchy crust. You cannot underestimate the vegetables. They were all some of the BEST country vegetables I have ever had. The vegetables include green beans, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, and fried corn. The Buttermilk Biscuits were Amazing! Babe’s even has honey on the table, which is my favorite thing on biscuits and fried chicken. The sweet and salty of the honey on the fried chicken is amazing!

  1. I have never been to Texas, but now you totally made me wish I could try that chicken. Oh my, it looked so delicious and just wanted to taste it and going to need to have my chicken fix at some point this weekend now for sure. Thanks for sharing Diane and wishing you a wonderful weekend now! :)

    • Janine,
Thank you for your kind words. Not only was the chicken great but the family party atmosphere was a lot of fun.
I hope you have a great weekend. It is warm here today in Arkansas but tomorrow it is going to be nice and cool. I cannot wait.

This sounds like a place for a kid’s party. Would never go there just to eat. Don’t like noisy places. Sounds too much like a Dave and Buster’s or Chucky Cheese. Glad the food was good–the pictures look like it was.
When we’re in the Dallas area, we eat Mexican (Joe T.’s in Fort Worth) or Italian at a great family restaurant in Forney. Try those place some times for outstanding food.
The restaurant in Forney gave me a kitchen tour when we arrived early to meet family, and it was at a slow time. I saw the huge pot of sauce cooking. I wanted to get a piece of their bread and start dipping in it. Awesome (as my great niece would say) smell.

    • Margie,
My husband works in sales and covers half of Texas including Dallas. We get to visit several times a year with him. I have never ate at Joe T’s in Fort Worth or the Italian restaurant in Forney. I will definitely try these two places.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave me a comment. I truly love reading my messages.
I hope you have a great weekend.

  3. This looks like a wonderful place to take the family when we go to Dallas to visit Ryan. How do you find these great places? Can’t wait to try it. Thanks for the post, Diane!

    • Susan,
Your family would have a great time. Not only is the Chicken delicious but the sides and biscuits were wonderful. It is very loud in Babes chicken but it is a lot of fun. They do the Hokey Pokey, the Chicken Dance and much more.
When you try it out, I would love to know what you thought.
Thank you so much for supporting my blog.
I have you have a great weekend.
      Blessing, Diane Roark

  4. Hey, the next time you plan to be in the Dallas area, please let me know and I’ll have your family over for dinner! Arlington is not far at all from where we live!!!!

    • Teresa,
You are so sweet! We live in Arkansas but my husband works half the state of Texas. He is in medical sales and covers 4 states. I really enjoyed Babe’s Chicken. It was loud but the food was great and we had a lot of fun!!
